Da Lat Flower Festival from December 27-31, 2013
The 2013 Da Lat Flower Festival will include different programs: A Da Lat flower and bonsai exhibition, a carnival, the opening ceremony of the 2013 Cultural and Tourism Week and international workshops and talks, among other events.
According to the festival organizing board, the most beautiful flowers from Da Lat will be displayed throughout the city of Da Lat. Hundreds of potted plants will be placed at the main tourist sites such as Xuan Huong Lake, Prenn Waterfall, Le Dai Hanh Street and Ong Dao Bridge. Especially, stones from the Spratly Islands will be brought to showcase. Poinsettia tree pots will be placed in the shape of the national flag on which yellow poinsettia stands at the center in the shape of a star surrounded by red poinsettia.
To make deep impression on tourists, at the opening ceremony of the 2013 Cultural and Tourism Week, a car decorated with flowers will go to all streets during December 27 night. Also at this night, interesting art performances such as a flower fashion show, a contest of decorating bikes with flowers, an exhibition of flowers which are grown only in Da Lat and a flower arrangement contest will be held.
The festival is highlighted by a music performance themed “Peace-Da Lat Night” with different music kinds such as street and rock music played by famous DJ. Tourists who love light music can come to the “Da Lat-Love Stories” music performance to listen to immortal songs of Da Lat.
People who love the beauty of old Da Lat will have the opportunity to admire a photo exhibition themed “Old Da Lat Railway Station” or an exhibition of old cars. Fans of Volkswagen Beetle Car can admire their loves while enjoying Da Lat wine.
At the same time with the Da Lat Flower Festival is the ASEAN-Vietnam UNESCO Heritage Festival featuring 10 ASEAN countries and four partners including China, India, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
The festival has four main programs: an ASEAN UNESCO intangible heritage performance, an international workshop themed “UNESCO Heritage network in Southeast Asia – Preservation Comes with Sustainable Development”, the heritage garden and ASEAN-UNESCO natural and cultural heritage arrangements and a Vietnam-ASEAN UNESCO heritage carnival.
Each country will showcase two of their cultural heritages. To the countries whose heritages have not recognized as world heritage by the UNESCO, they will perform their most special heritages. Apart from the two heritages, Vietnam will showcase the heritages which are submitted to the UNESCO for being recognized as world heritages.
During the Da Lat Flower Festival, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will declare to start the Da Lat-Central Highland Tourism Year themed “The Central Highland Forest”. The event will last during 2014 with 44 main programs held in five provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum. With a number of interesting cultural events, the Central Highland will have ideal opportunity to attract more tourists from all over the world.
