We leave the bustle of the city behind for a day of exploring scenic rice fields, waterways and colorful markets of the Mekong Delta area. Upon Caibe arrival, we embark a local boat and start the excursion with a visit of Cai Be colorful floating market, the market run approximately 400 to 500 boats filled with fruits, vegetables, and other products are anchored along the banks of the river waiting for customers and traders, from 5 am to 5 pm every day. Leave the boat for a while to visit the local business and craft factories where you can interact with the local people to learn more about their daily life and more. After visiting the market, pay a visit to local factories where you will learn how pop rice, pop corn, rice paper and other local products/crafts are made. Your lunch will be at an ancient local home. Return to the boat for the cruise to Vinh Long City, along the way admires the scenery and the daily life of the local villagers. On arrival at Vinh Long pier, you will be met by your vehicle for a 45-minute drive to Vung Liem, from here cross over a tributary of the Mekong by local ferry before taking a 15 minute biking to your home-stay located on Long Island which is renowned for its fruit orchards and sedge fields (this grass is used to make traditional mats). After check in, take some rest on your own or make some further own exploration of the village before returning for dinner. You will have a chance to practice making “Banh Xeo” – a type of savory pancake and a specialty of the Mekong region. The family will be your host this evening and they are happy to share with you in details about the typical life in the Mekong region.
Overnight at home-stay

After an intimate breakfast with the family, start exploring the island by bicycle through quiet roads, fruit orchards, local market to sedge fields, to see the cutting and weaving of this grass which is used to make traditional mats. Next stop will be the sleeping mat weaving workshop, where you have opportunity to see local workers make sleeping mats and learn how it contributes to their income. On the way back to the house, you will visit the shrine dedicated to Lord Thoai Ngoc Hau's Parents in law (Lord Thoai Ngoc Hau was one of the founders of the area). After lunch, bid farewell to your hosts and take the local ferry back to the mainland. Return to Ho Chi Minh City where you will arrive in the late afternoon.
